Change in opening times and Easter Closures.

15 Apr 2025

Thank you for your input into the recent survey on opening times for the LMCS.

The Supervisors had an energetic meeting analysing the results of the survey of members and discussed how we can service members better, and how we needed to make some changes to do this.

  • From the survey results and from Supervisor observations, the Friday afternoon session is very quiet and members did not show a preference for this day in the survey. Therefore, after Easter, the shed will no longer open on Fridays. Colin Ballantine will take over as the regular supervisor for Wednesday morning sessions from Wednesday 16 April.

  • To help meet the demand for inductions, Woodworking Machinery Shop inductions (Red and Orange) will be moved to Tuesday nights and will alternate between Red and Orange on a weekly basis.

  • Tuesday evenings will formally expand to include low noise woodwork (currently Pottery and 3D Makers) Please liaise with the induction session trainers on the night regarding use of machinery room equipment as they will be conducting training along with our regular supervisors on Tuesday night.

  • Additional assistance is often required to relieve our regular supervisors and ensure all our sessions go ahead. Monia and Thomas have regularly stepped up to the plate and our newest recruit, Samantha is raring to go and assist when available. We still need help from others that have either qualified or need to be trained. We would appreciate the additional support.

  • A Sunday session was a popular preference in the survey and would especially accommodate our many members that work during the week. Sundays may also relieve some of the pressure on Saturdays, our most popular sessions. However, this is not possible without a regular supervisor.  If you are interested in making this sort of regular Sunday commitment, please contact Henry Kujda to discuss (deputy@lmcs.org.au).

Easter:

Closed Friday 18th April

Open Saturday 19 April
